This past Friday DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson stated at the United States Conference of Mayors that the approximately 11 million people who are in the country illegally have “earned the right to be citizens.”
“An earned path to citizenship for those currently present in this country is a matter of, in my view, homeland security to encourage people to come out from the shadows,” said Johnson.
“It is also, frankly, in my judgment, a matter of who we are as Americans,” he said, “to offer the opportunity to those who want to be citizens, who’ve earned the right to be citizens, who are present in this country–many of whom came here as children–to have the opportunity that we all have to try to become American citizens.”
So the Dept of Homeland ‘Security’ doesn’t want to ‘secure’ our borders, surprised?
Speaking at the United States Conference of Mayors on Friday, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said the approximately 11 million people who are in the country illegally have “earned the right to be citizens.”
“An earned path to citizenship for those currently present in this country is a matter of, in my view, homeland security to encourage people to come out from the shadows,” said Johnson, in what he remarked was one of his first public speeches since being confirmed as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) chief in December.
Here’s an obvious question: How exactly did illegal immigrants “earn” their right to be citizens? Their first act on American soil was breaking the law and they have continued to break the law every moment they’ve been here. Many of them broke the law again by faking a Social Security number. Many of them either didn’t pay taxes at all or lied on their taxes to get earned income tax credits they didn’t deserve. They go to emergency rooms and get “free” health care they don’t pay for; their kids go to schools they don’t pay taxes on; they collect welfare and food stamps to give to kids who should have never been in our country either; they take jobs that would have otherwise gone to American citizens while they drive down wages — but, they deserve citizenship?
What illegal aliens actually DESERVE is deportation, which has been and SHOULD BE the penalty for coming to the United States illegally. Until we get more politicians in D.C. in BOTH parties who understand that, nothing of significance will be done about illegal immigration.
have they fought for our freedom, hell no so they have not earned the right to be citizens
My dying ass…. Illegal is Illegal…. period….
illegal,send back
So if this is true, then any Permanent Resident should be automatically considered to be a US Citizen too. After all they did it LEGALLY!! not breaking the laws
Jeh Johnson, what is wrong with you? Can you not read? You are violating every principle of the constitution. Illegal aliens have no rights since they are “Criminals”! They have violated the law of our land. They are invaders and have NO Rights!
This clown is a dumb as his boss! He needs to go!
Show me the lodgic in this. There is none.
BULL$#%&!@*.
Idiot Alert!
They have earned the right to a jail cell and then deportation! Mr. Johnson should get his head out of his butt. NO illegal is living in the shawdows, they are OUT FRONT n UPFRONT.
