For years, liberal politicians have attempted to grow the power of government while quietly taking rights away from everyday Americans. In their latest power grab, residents in Colorado are now being told that they don’t even have the right to store rainwater that lands on their property.
That’s right. The same party that thinks that sex-change operations and taxpayer-funded abortions are fundamental rights thinks that water is not.
Their goal is simple. By stripping away fundamental resources and transferring them to the government, the Democratic party intends to make a populace so reliant on big government, that citizens have no choice but to submit themselves to its demands.
Of course, there is no law saying that storing rainwater is illegal — that would be absurd — but that hasn’t stopped Democrats in Colorado from claiming the water is theirs, anyway. The law, it seems, only matters when it benefits government. When it gets in the government’s way, it can simply be ignored.
See how the Republicans are fighting back against this ludicrous assertion on the next page:
We just did that this last mid term election, we voted “wisely”, and what happened?, nothing…. I understand peoples disgust go Obama, but why are we not railing against the republicans that are supposed bro be representing us and who have stood by and allowed it????
Sorry, not positive but a similar story came up a while back when I was posting about my setup. I was told I might have trouble and shown a posting about someone in southern Oregon being arrested for storing rainwater. The photo with the posting showed a 50 gallon rain barrel. Another writer wrote that the person was actually cited for ignoring a court order to remove catchment dams he had built that affected his neighbor’s water rights. It was a while back but I can try to find the story. I paid close attention to the story because I was building my storage system at the time. I have never found any restrictions on downspout collection systems. The point I wanted to make was that Colorado’s ban was written into their constitution before the turn of the century…the other century; and banning the collection of a measly 100 gallons is pathetic-but not something Obama and the Democrats had anything to do with.
This has been the law for years! This is not new. Think about the bigger picture. Every drop of water you drink was rainfall on someone else’s property. And not years ago, weeks or days ago. Without this law, what stops companies from simply buying huge areas of land upstream from you and hoarding the water and selling it back to you at a huge mark up (or for that matter, the government that already owns the land)? Believe me, if this were a real controversy both Fox News and every Republican candidate would be screaming about it. Educate yourself on even the most basic water laws and this makes absolute sense. (Alternately, wait a few years until the Republicans are in power and you’ll see the exact same article blaming them for the water grab.)
There is no end to what the goverment will do to make people have to depend on them for everything, when will they try to make people ask if it is ok to eat today?
Robert Lee Hoke lot of people build dams and ponds here in the Ozarks. not one has negatively affected me. I don’t think though altering rivers is a good idea.
Then maybe it’s time to stop letting these pathetic power hungry control freaks get into office and put them in the ground simple really bullets to the head cures libtardism.
It Really amazes me that people even give Democrats attention.
Dumbass democratic political party, but their voters are even more incompetent of critical thinking.
How is a law that has been on the books since the 1800s Obamas fault? Isn’t that stretching it a bit? And the Democrats are the ones proposing the new law to change it and allow rooftop collection..
Reply…… Food and clothes get taxed too! Does that mean the government can have the shirt of my back and underwear too? Taxing does not mean ownership.
In China, land is owned by China and you can own what is put on it!
