It is statisticsĀ like this that makes it abundantly clear that the criminal justice originally envisioned by the Founding Fathers has become a farce, a parody of what it used to be. A horribly unfunny parody at that.
There are 2.2 million Americans currently behind bars, for whatever reason, today. While such a statistic might be read as indicating 2.2 million criminals are imprisoned, consider this: out of these 2.2 million, around 2 million have never received a trial, fair or unfair, for their alleged crimes.
That means that only 3% of the people in American prisons have actually been found guilty before their peers of breaking the law. The rest, only God and the government know because they’ve never been brought before independent juries and judges.
It is entirely possibly that some, or even a lot of the people currently being held without trial have committed crimes, but this is exactly why the Constitution guarantees the right to a fair and speedy trial. That way, the guilty are punished and the innocent are protected, instead of having the innocent lumped in with the guilty and treated as such.

Due process went out when we gave these broad “civil forfeiture” powers to the police for the war on drugs. I said it back then that civil forfeitures would lead to abuse and look at 2014, more stuff stolen by police than the criminals.
I know someone that had to go to prison for 18 months. First offense? Her bf was dealing drugs. He even stated that she was not involved. So, no, they are not ALL repeat felons.
Well that is a bit miss-leading. They most likely did not have a trial by a “JURY” trial, but had to have some formal hearing before a magistrate to under court orderd incarseration.
Like my son.Set up by the Clintons.
I need someone to post this to my timeline… I’m in FB jail. I can comment but cannot post.
It’s called excepting responsibility. Which means if you tell them you did it you only get 2 years but if not you get 8 if it goes to trial.
in this world today the statis quo get away with murder oj proved that
How do they print this c**p….some, yes, but not 90%…..
WAKE UP AMERICA
This is the one of the most misleading headlines in a long line of your misleading headlines. I worked in the criminal justice system for 20 years. Anyone who is arrested will have a bond hearing. Anyone who can’t afford an attorney will have one appointed. The accused has to agree to any plea agreement, and, them main reason they do is because it allows them to get out of jail or prison sooner than if they went to trial for the original charge and were sentenced on that charge. Contrary to popular belief, there really aren’t many “innocent” people who go to jail, let alone prison. And you know what? Even the inmates in the jail and prison will admit that when you are around them long enough. Stop with the bull.
