Gun owners have to be extra careful these days to avoid not only incurring the wrath of overzealous law enforcement but playing into the hands of the anti-gun crowd as well.
Case in point is Guo Shou, a Queens man who was taken into police custody after authorities exercised a warrant to search his apartment and found a massive arsenal in it. What they found was enough weapons and ammo to “take on a small army”, per Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.
Among his inventory were 14 legally-obtained handguns, 2 licensed and loaded shotguns, 1 licensed rifle and around 45,000 rounds of ammo for any number of weapons. He was also found to be in possession of parts that could be assembled into an AR-10 or AR-15 assault rifle as well as several pieces of Kevlar body armor.
While all of Shou’s equipment was legally acquired, police claimed that he failed to store it properly, thus necessitating his arrest.

Then let’s hope for your neighbors sake that you store your powder correctly.
I was being facetious…
Sorry but a firearm locked in a safe with ammo in another area is absolutely ridiculous and defeats the purpose of owning firearms. I lock up my long guns but my handguns are loaded and accessible to me. no small kids anywhere around
Andy, the warrant was not an arrest warrant, it was a search warrant. During the course of the Admin. pistol review and inspection they saw x amount of powder, enough to get a search warrant and return.
I disagree with your assessment that the action was a triumph. There was and is no crime committed. Granted 45K rounds of ammo is alot, there is no minimum or maximum amount of ammo, regarding lawful or unlawful anything.
I respect your position even though I vehemently disagree with it
Devon Tumacder There are no laws regarding the reloading of ammunition
Janet Hall It is not about need Ms. Janet
My understanding is that the loose gunpowder was criminal. Is that not true?
You do not need any kind of license to reload ammunition. Nor is there any law I am aware of limiting the amount of powder one can own. Storing gunpowder in factory cannisters in a clean dry place is a lot safe than storing gasoline in five gallon containers.
Robby, you mentioned “black market, unlicensed ammo manufacturing equipment.” Does NYC require ammo reloading tools to be licensed? An ammo press is a common way for people who shoot a lot to save money on ammunition. All his intact guns were licensed and his Armalite rifles were in pieces. It’s possible he was trying to observe the letter of the law, and the overboard quantity of gunpowder was an honest oversight. I hope everybody keeps a level head in the court proceedings.
Really stringent regulation tends to catch a lot of generally honest people who slipped up.
Can’t have over your allotment as decided by loretta lynch, who protects obama, 5he head Arab 8n charge. They don’t want you to own enough when they come to seize your registered guns. By guns at a gun show now before they make that illegal. At least you’ll have a back up
