Gun owners have to be extra careful these days to avoid not only incurring the wrath of overzealous law enforcement but playing into the hands of the anti-gun crowd as well.
Case in point is Guo Shou, a Queens man who was taken into police custody after authorities exercised a warrant to search his apartment and found a massive arsenal in it. What they found was enough weapons and ammo to “take on a small army”, per Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.
Among his inventory were 14 legally-obtained handguns, 2 licensed and loaded shotguns, 1 licensed rifle and around 45,000 rounds of ammo for any number of weapons. He was also found to be in possession of parts that could be assembled into an AR-10 or AR-15 assault rifle as well as several pieces of Kevlar body armor.
While all of Shou’s equipment was legally acquired, police claimed that he failed to store it properly, thus necessitating his arrest.

IF HE BOUGHT IT AND DIDNT STEAL IT; THEN IT SHOULD NOT MATTER HOW MHCH HE HAS…IF THE GOVERNMENT WOULD TREAT US HARD WORKING–TAX PAYING CITIZENS CORRECTLY; THEN THEY WOULDNT CARE HOW MUCH AMMO WE HAVE. WE NEED TO START USING IT AGAIN THE MOST CORRUPT GOVERNMENT OUT THERE.
NYC, after 5 guns he was required to have a safe which he probably had long ago. You can only buy 1 gun every 90 days so he’s been collecting for awhile. Safe storage is determined by whether or not he lived alone and if he was home. Apparently guns have to be locked if not within immediate control. If he was home alone there shouldn’t be an issue. I don’t see why the issued a warrant in the first place, sounds like he was reloading, big deal.
Administrative license review is illegal. They can not just come into your home and inventory what you have. That is a violation of your civil rights and the Constitution. No crime was committed for them to enter his home. He needs to sue the city for violation of his civil rights and for confiscation of his property.
Smokeless gun powder is non explosive. it just burns and creates gas pressure in a cartridge. Ammunition is not dangerous when on fire. Many fire dept. tests to prove this.
Why is it irresponsible Matthew???? Facts only please since you are an expert here. Or are you just another scardy cat liberal of everything that moves.
250 #’s of powder, 45,000 rounds of ammunition for multiple weapons; two Kevlar body armor vests; and six Kevlar armor plates. I’d call that highly suspicious, still not illegal.
How do you know it was stored improperly. it says it was in various containers. It does not say it was improperly stored. And smokeless powder is not explosive. It burns. Black powder is explosive. %00,000 round of ammo in a fire is not dangerous either. The bullets just pop out. there is no velocity. Teasts done by multiple fire depts.
JF you are totally ignorant on this subject. Please do not comment.
Why not?
Ammunition is not a fire hazard.
