A police officer in Illinois flew into a rage with a driver who attempted to exercise his Constitutional rights at a random police checkpoint. Ryan Scott recorded this quite disturbing video as he was ushered into the checkpoint.
Scott defended his rights, stating that he was not obligated to give his driver’s license if he is not being detained or was suspected of committing a crime, the second officer went into a quite insane rage, ripping open the car door and yelling “YOU KNOW WHAT, YOU ARE OBLIGATED, GET OUT NOW!”

Let’s clarify this situation. It’s a road side safety check, which the Supreme Court has ruled do not violate the 4th Amendment because 1, government has a significant interest to stop drunk driving, 2, the delay to the motorist is slight. It is required that there are signs posted warning motorists of the checkpoint ahead. The guy in this video could have avoided the checkpoint, but instead he turns on a camera and drives into the checkpoint. So he voluntarily drives into the checkpoint and starts debating with the troopers. He was out trying to start a scene and get 15 minutes of fame.
Louie C. says:
“I understand and appreciate much of the Tea Parties post but this one is insane.
-It’s NOT insane to a government bordering tyranny. It’s brave.
A simple safety check is not an infringement on a person’s rights.
-A mandatory “safety check”/random police check-point IS an infringement on a person’s rights.
A simple polite, here’s my driver’s license and insurance card, is all it takes.
-just because it is simpler to show your “papers” and be on your way doesn’t make the police in the right for asking for them without cause. A police check-point checks all those that travel that road at that time. Just traveling a road is not evidence of a crime so it’s not just cause to demand papers.
The police are doing their job and were not trying to search his car or arrest him.
-In all of the genocides of this world, the soldiers were only doing their jobs while committing atrocities. When your job is immoral, it’s the moral ones job to disobey. “Just doing my job” is a terrible excuse to do something you know is wrong.
His belligerent attitude was the problem.
-His attitude is a product of the problem.
It is inconvenient for drivers but think about the other person. There might be a child in danger in the next car. There might be an illegal driver. There might be lack of insurance. There might be a child not properly restrained and that simple safety check might save that child’s life.
-“He who gives up freedom for safety deserves neither.” – Benjamin Franklin
This guy was trying to cause problems and he gives all conservatives a bad name.
-This guy was not causing the problem. The problem was already created when the police asked for his papers without cause.”

Naturally! Great we all need to know our rights!
It also works both ways he should of asked to see his police ID. And the officer has to show it.
Seems Obama said hey cops of the 4 not arresting me here I’ll give u military grade rifles and vehicles and gear + a added bonus u kill an unarmed man just say these words and u get off Scot free
Truth And Action. I think the issue is clear….God commands us to obey the laws of our land unless that law is in opposition to God’s word. I am not a hater of our government that God has established even though I see much corruption. God has used both good and evil leaders/government to bring about his purposes. I am sure I can continue to trust God. Since we obviously do not agree I will unfriend you page and you can go on spewing hatred of all government and I will continue to trust God.
This driver set up this confrontation. The police were 1) not “enraged,” and 2) were fully constitutional. The driver should be ashamed of himself and his behavior, and should actually read the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. To publish this as some kind of constitutional “crisis”is ridiculous when compared to true Constitutional misbehavior.
The DRIVER is responsible for most of this problem… You think those police WANT to be out there on a rainy night? The officer was out of line, but he had probably already dealt with so many other driver’s attitudes that I somewhat understand his reaction… It doesn’t excuse it, but we all have only so much patience. Post another misleading story and BS like this and I’ll be gone.
We all make mistakes!!!

“You are right-on, Louie, very well laid out and presented. What the freak is a “safety check point”? I think we citizens like to be safe from an invasive military state, as were our founding fathers when they gave us our Declaration and Constitution in the first place.”
