The world knows just how devastating a nuclear bomb would be, no matter where it is deployed. We’ve seen the aftermath of war and many of us have felt the pain from the loss left in it’s wake. As it turns out, there’s more damage to be had by a nuclear bomb exploding thousands of miles above us. Though there would be limited physical damage or immediate deaths, the loss of America’s power supply would cause mass confusion and chaos.
Wiping out our countries communication grid by generating a massive EMP explosion would prevent emergency response, while all communication and transportation would come to a screeching halt. It’s not that society is incapable of surviving without power but, let’s face it, we have grown dependent upon it.
An electromagnetic pulse is a short burst of energy that has the ability to completely fry any and all electronics and can be brought about by a exploding a nuclear device at high altitude (North Korea is capable of doing this right now) or even just by a solar flare.
A cyber attack or simple physical assault could also take down our highly vulnerable grid. Such an event would send us all back to the stone age as every single electronic device, including the power grid, would be completely destroyed.
Experts have estimated 90% of the American populace would not survive such an attack.
Find out just how bad it could be on the next page.
Wayne Everingham, have you ever been to the Midwest? Empty land for miles on end, far as the eye can see. They’ll need to learn farming, how to shoot possibly, and build log cabins. They may need to unindoctrinate themselves of some If not all left wing propaganda if they wish to survive. If they don’t, well… Natural selection.
I think that 90% is a bit high. However, think of all the secondary systems that will fail causing extra problems. First thing I think of concerns all the nuclear plants. Water shuts off, they heat up and Chernobyl!!
An effective EMP attack would leave our country up for grabs AND those who attack us via EMP will be the ones who will be poised to wipe out the remaining 10% – or make them slaves to produce food for them.
We can only hope that an EMP attack doesn’t happen while the wimp Barack Hussein Obama is still president and if those who would attack the USA know that time is of the essence.
Jerry, I don’t think that’s going to happen. 300 million armed plus people. They’d be out of their minds. What do you think kept Japan away?
It is not so much the EMP that worries me. It is not being able to defend ourselves from another attack, perhaps even nuclear, because of the lack of communications etc. I certainly hope that our government has been smart enough to foresee this, I am sure it has all of their equipment protected from the chance of an EMP attack, and their bunkers well stocked and ready for them also.. But, all the citizens will be virtually left defenseless and sitting in the dark. We will be like sitting ducks just waiting for the picking. Learn to live off the grid in order to survive the aftermath, in case we do survive.Hopefully, some of us will have access to a shelter that will protect them from a nuclear fallout. Me, I am too far out to find out in time to even get to one. Most really don’t know where the shelter is in our city. Most don’t have access to an underground shelter or the means to build one either. Sad! But, hopefully some do..
They weren’t prepared for Y2K, but nothing happened. Fearmongering 101.
Not prepared? I would wager that 90% or more DO NOT KNOW WHAT AN EMP is or what it can do. Same goes for a CME, or Caldera Explosion.
No$#%&!@*.. Been talking about this at least the last 8-10 years that I recall.
And many of us have our own gardens and will survive…….
