Although it is important that we question everything we read, it is just as important that we do not let the government control what we read.
Thanks to unprecedented advances in technology, people are able to access information at rates and levels that would have been unimaginable even a couple decades ago. We can store information that would have taken entire libraries to fill in times past on devices no bigger than our hands today, and transmit it faster than anyone could have dreamed of. This has made it possible for ordinary people to not just find news, but disseminate it as well.
The downside of this is that since everybody can share news, anybody can, leading to misleading and even outright false stories spreading. Even worse, this gives the busybodies in Washington a pretext to exert their control over alternative media.

This seems like a direct attack on the first amendment! How many rights are we willing to legislate away..?
Wtf are you even trying to go on about? Several US intelligence agencies, one of them which went after Clinton, all came to the same conclusion that Russia hacked the DNC. Not to mention a Russian hacker took responsibility for it.
I cant tell if this protects us from foreign bs or is a strike against the first amendment with the way the article is written.
What about Republican based news agencies like Fox?
Thats what Im saying. The government acts like it doesnt lie to us.
Michael Master – Russia has been hacking the U.S. for years, that is nothing new. The point everyone is missing or avoiding to acknowledge is, they had nothing to do with Trump winning the election and Hillary loosing. People who were and are fed up with the continuous corruption in D.C., and knowing Hillary’s long time questionable background, are the ones who voted Trump in to office. It’s really not difficult to figure out if one is honest with one self. Many people have been fooled by the Left because they sound and appear so reasonable. This is all distraction “news” to keep focus elsewhere while obama tries to complete his goals for this country.
When the government has the power to edict what is true and false news, we are at greater risk as a nation than we have ever been before.
Freedom of the press has been a foundation of our greatness. The fourth estate is central to the constitution. It is a difference between democracy and the facade of democracy.
Citizens must be free to decide for themselves what is true and what is false news. When we lose confidence in the people’s ability to decide, we have begun a countdown to the loss of personal rights.
This is the same GOP congress that you lepers voted in. The same ones that wanted to remove the ability to investigate their corruption. Just remember you wanted this.
Click bait.
This bill was introduced way back in May. It was bipartisan and Obama has already signed it. This is a b******t story. The new law is aimed at foreign governments spred of propaganda not the American press. For Christ same people do a little research before flipping out.
