Although it is important that we question everything we read, it is just as important that we do not let the government control what we read.
Thanks to unprecedented advances in technology, people are able to access information at rates and levels that would have been unimaginable even a couple decades ago. We can store information that would have taken entire libraries to fill in times past on devices no bigger than our hands today, and transmit it faster than anyone could have dreamed of. This has made it possible for ordinary people to not just find news, but disseminate it as well.
The downside of this is that since everybody can share news, anybody can, leading to misleading and even outright false stories spreading. Even worse, this gives the busybodies in Washington a pretext to exert their control over alternative media.

Freedom of speech and press. Cannot touch it, however i do agree that if its something terribly wrong and its damaging lives and peoples safety something should be done.
Thanks, Barry, you suck very deeply.
This coming from propaganda kings….the Republican$#%&!@*lying party. Well done….hurray idiots
Seems to me all that news has turned out to be true. But on the Republican propaganda machine side. How’s those charges coming for the evil most corrupt women in politics. 8 million spent how many investigations. For what ? How many court dates did she have? How many
idiots the Republican party is the king of propaganda
There are legitimate concerns raised by the piece, but the poor quality of the writing obscures the message and damages the credibility of the writer.
This type of legislation erroneously pre-supposes that the sources of misinformation, disinformation, deceit, lies, taqiyya, and blatant propaganda originate OUTSIDE our government, exclusively. But who’s watching the watchers?! It is a FACT that OUR government engages in this kind of abuse of power regularly (Project Mockingbird), as well as agencies within our government (like the White House, the Pentagon, DIA, CIA, NSA, IRS, DoJ, FBI, etc., going rogue, if it’s to their benefit), fabricating self-serving “facts” as needed, making up terms to demean and discredit (such as: “conspiracy theorists” by CIA) those who doubt or question “the Official version” of described events, and conduct mind-bending, mind-altering, and mind-controlling psy-ops (MKULTRA, etc.) on our citizenry, without their knowledge. Bear in mind, our government is not above cynical, and illegal schemes and experiments on its own citizens (like the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment, and using chem-trails to poison or mind-alter, and H.A.A.R.P. to control weather). These are just a few of the hundreds (or more) nefarious acts, perpetrated over the years…and WE are supposed to entrust OUR government with our most precious freedoms?!
In other words the real news is there news… come Lord Jesus come!
It’s not the government’s job to protect me from “lies”.. thats my job
Oh Supreme Court where are you. We can read what we want. Our constitution says so
This bill just makes government bigger and information controlled. Now they can feed us whatever b******t they want and you can’t voice an opposing view because they can censor you.
