Although it is important that we question everything we read, it is just as important that we do not let the government control what we read.
Thanks to unprecedented advances in technology, people are able to access information at rates and levels that would have been unimaginable even a couple decades ago. We can store information that would have taken entire libraries to fill in times past on devices no bigger than our hands today, and transmit it faster than anyone could have dreamed of. This has made it possible for ordinary people to not just find news, but disseminate it as well.
The downside of this is that since everybody can share news, anybody can, leading to misleading and even outright false stories spreading. Even worse, this gives the busybodies in Washington a pretext to exert their control over alternative media.

Never see this on cable, has to be f**e?
F**e news about f**e news, probably.
Hold on everybody! This story is not true. Bill was referred to the foreign affairs committee back in March, where it sits. ITT has not been brought up for vote. Check the facts before you repost or comment, as you only look like an idiot
Sounds like a new way for lawyers to cash in and for Congress to waste even more money, if that’s possible.
If you read the actual bill it’s Foreign disinformation and propaganda that’s being targeted not the USA. The government isn’t try to stop the media from doing its job it wants to have a department that’s responsible for watching outside sources of disinformation so the whole “the Russians did it” stuff doesn’t happen again. It’s not about destroying or limiting our access to information.
Oh well. I’ll still say and do as I please.
So we not have CIA, FBI, and a plethora of agencies that already do this? The Russians or insiders thing is just a joke either way, what the media and politicians have done a great job at doing is, let’s not deny what was in the emails and make people look closer, but instead blame”the Russians”. Even better yet, the same people praised Edward Snowden just a few years back calling him a hero. Shouldn’t the Russians be hero’s for showing the people exactly what we the people thought was going on? Our government has gotten so big, bloated, and self absorbed on growing and expanding powers threw the pen it has lost touch with the We the people that ultimately grant the government the power… OK, Rant over.
Censorship is here now , but don’t think for long
I have a novel idea, how about we teach kids critical thinking again, ao they can see through the misinformation, just saying. Would work better and get our nation back on track.
