CNN Melts Down in Response to Trump Wrestling Tweet

The video Trump used in the tweet was originally done by a Trump supporter, who superimposed the CNN logo on McMahon’s head. In the video you see Trump pull the CNN figure out of the ring and administer a sound beating to him.

Any rational human being would see that the president intended the tweet as a means to tweak CNN, and get people there and other media to overreact.

By goading them into their hysteria, he simply underscored their bias and overwhelming sense of self-importance. Brian Stelter, host of CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” proved the most agitated.

This is day six of Trump’s anti-media tweet storms. We’ve been covering this all week long. His offensive tweets about Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski took up days of news coverage. And those came after days of attacks against CNN and “The Washington Post.” Now his target on Sunday is CNN again. Who knows which outlet will be next. Who’s going to speak out? Are other media outlets going to speak up?”

As was the case during the 2016 presidential campaign, Mr. Trump has used Twitter to keep his opponents off balance and dominate the news cycle. With his latest barrage of tweets, the president has successfully removed the Russia investigation from the news.

Stelter went so far as to compare President Trump to Hugo Chavez, Recip Erdogan and Vladimir Putin in trying to undermine the press.

Equally upset is CNN White House Correspondent Jim Acosta, who seems consumed with worry that a silly video may incite violence against reporters. Guess he believed the absurd story that a video led to the Benghazi attack.

I speak for myself. I can’t speak for everybody who has covered Donald Trump since he was a candidate. I covered him throughout that campaign, and now that he’s president of the United States—my concern is, and I know it’s shared by others, is that this kind of rhetoric, this kind of behavior is going to lead to a journalist being hurt. That’s the thing I worry about.”

Acosta has overlooked the fact that the most extreme act we’ve seen since President Trump took office is the attempted assassination of House Majority Whip Steve Scalise by a progressive Bernie Sanders supporter.

The main effect seen from the Trump tweets has been to make CNN and MSNBC look like pathetic sore losers who deserve public mockery.

A number of pundits and politicians have criticized the president for not fitting their view of how a president should behave. Those Republicans who don’t like his use of social media include House Speaker Paul Ryan, Senator Lindsey Graham and Senator Susan Collins. But then, they never liked Donald Trump to begin with.

President Trump has come back at his critics on Twitter with:

My use of social media is not Presidential – it’s MODERN DAY PRESIDENTIAL. Make America Great Again!”

What disturbs his detractors is President Trump has figured out his tweets are an effective way to directly communicate with his supporters and to throw his opponents off balance. As a result, he can bypass a hostile media that would filter and distort his message.

Now the mainstream media is on the defensive as President Trump ramps up his offensive against them. Their public approval is lower than his and plummeting rapidly.

By reacting in such a hysterical manner to the wrestling tweet, the media simply reveal their lack of a sense of humor and their unappealing self-absorption.
