Clapper on Trump Wiretaps: ‘I Am Denying My Previous Denial’

Former Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, who looked on CNN more like Grouchy Smurf (“Turn that frown upside-down!”) than a once marginally-important gofer for the Obama administration (“Gofer coffee, gofer pastries, gofer wiretap access!”)

While his denials in March to Meet the Press about wiretaps of the Trump associates were emphatic, he was made to puff up his chest in importance to note that if there was any monkey business about wiretaps, HE would have known about it.  Because, after all, he was the most informed and important individual in the chain of command for national intelligence!

Wasn’t he?

Well, according to the newest interview with CNN’s Don Lemon…not so much.  He’s now dialed back his self-importance from a 100 degrees Fahrenheit to a cool 38.  This guy changes temperature quicker than the IPCC changes its email data!

So why the sudden retrospection?

As it turns out, evidence has surfaced proving that Trump associates (as the president charged and was roundly pooh-poohed) were in fact wiretapped.  The most recent example was Trump’s former campaign manager, Paul Manafort.  Which means that, if Manafort was wiretapped, all his conversations with Trump (or any other associate in the campaign or along the chain-of-command) were listened in on as well.

Former spy chief James Clapper appeared on CNN with Don Lemon Wednesday evening to speak about the wiretapping of Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort.

When Don Lemon asked Clapper if he had knowledge of the FISA warrant for Paul Manafort, he said no. Back in a March interview with Chuck Todd, Clapper said that if the FBI had a FISA warrant for Manafort, he would have “absolutely” known about it.

Lemon asked Clapper Wednesday evening, “Did you know about a FISA warrant against Paul Manafort at the time?”

“I did not,” Clapper responded.

Interestingly, Lemon caught the big Grouchy Smurf fish, but let him off the hook.  He didn’t extend beyond the question of “Did you know…” to “What are the implications of an incumbent administration requesting wiretaps of a potential incoming administration?”  The CNN “in-depth host” didn’t even ask the next question of “How would you punish someone who broke the law here by requesting a wiretap of the Trump campaign?”

Instead, in true CNN fashion, they took the Leftist sympathetic line of nodding with a saddened face and tilting their head in comprehension that poor Grouchy Smurf has really had a very tough time of this.  Before, as Director of National Intelligence, when he genuinely thought that he knew what was going on right beneath his nose, he honestly was just trying to make a difference in the Swamp…to bring a little dignity back to the heart of the Beltway.

Instead, some nefarious bad players were using some crazy Legerdemain that spun his head about and caused him to look in the opposite direction while they snuck in a few wiretaps without him knowing!  The fiends!

Of course, this is all a farce, designed for the dunces who watch CNN in the authentic belief that this is real news.  As the Fakery Mill continues to pump out this free pass to the Leftist loyalists of Barack Hussein Obama, we will continue to tell the Truth.
