Operators of the Nash Farm Battlefield Museum in Hampton, Georgia, have decided to close the five-year old Civil War museum after a Henry County commissioner demanded removal of Confederate artifacts.
The museum has been run by a nonprofit organization to commemorate the site of an August 1864 battle in the American Civil War. It’s been housed in a historic building in what has been a Henry County park.
Commissioner Dee Clemmons, an African-American woman, began her demands on the museum with a request to remove a Confederate flag displayed on a flagpole.

I don’t understand what these people think?
It’s our history you cant change history it’s just plane racist and ignorance
History cannot be erased. You, commissioner, need a lesson in REAL Southern history if the Confederate Flag offends you.
So when she comes up for election how much of this will splat and stick to her?
Pi** on Henry County and any commissioner or politician there who denies us the right to display our history. If we cannot display our history then by God there had better not be any displays of black history either. NONE AT ALL. Two can play your game.
When will they take down the American Flag for the hurt that we have caused the entire world through different wars? Don’t just pull the Confederate Flags, ya’ll go ahead and pull all the flags ever used in war against any other country and race of people. Fair is fair while your trying to erase history. We wouldn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings now would we. Pitiful times are upon us. Gotta love the PC police.
Thanx for being selfish in your demands. You spoiled do many peoples efforts to preserve history. You will never erase history, you are only able to repeat it.
Those who erase history are doomed to repeat it Keeps racing through my mind.
Extremely disappointing to this retired teacher. Erasing the record of the actual Civil War issues also erases the bravery of the many Black soldiers who fought for both sides.
The best thing is to educate all of these folks who don’t have a clue what they are doing, you can remove Statues, Flags, etc, but history will at some time repeat itself!
If the shoe was on the other foot……..,..
