At a time when kids are encouraged to attend “Resistance Camps” over Space Camp, it’s hardly surprising that kids are being discouraged from having summer jobs. Times are changing. Not only are kids not given the freedom to explore and play outdoors, they’re also banned from mowing the grass. The difference between the grass, however, is that city ordinances and officials are enforcing the restrictions.
One city in Alabama has allowed more than just historical monuments to fall to the waysides. One would think city officials would have more pressing crimes to worry about than teenagers being hard workers. But, then again who would have thought that tearing down monuments in the dead of night would be implemented to stop people from becoming white supremacists. Those darn monuments. And those darn kids wanting to have summer jobs instead of protesting or lazing around.

And then, of course, they’ll tax the earnings.
What kind of freaks dream this stuff up. First they stopped kids from selling lemonade in front of their house, now they can’t mow a lawn?
It’s what comes from being too literal minded. Laws about commerce and hiring labor were never intended for kids, and I’m sure everyone in the whole country knows this except$#%&!@*politicians who continue to write$#%&!@*laws & regulations.
There must be a rule that when you get elected to something, or put in charge of an agency, you must forgo all you ever knew about common sense.
Omg how stupid are people gonna get
My childhood, too late…. sarcasm
What has this country came too. Now we c as nr teach our children responsibility and how finances work. What better way then to mow lawns or deliver papers or set up lemonade stsnd. This country has gone mad. And yes not the country I grew up in.
Really! No wonder today’s kids don’t want to work.
Must be Kalifornia
I became member of Arts Board for local college, and dinner seated next to my high school English teacher, also on board…I introduce my self to her, pulled out her chair for her to sit and said “Mrs….don’t know if you remember me, but…”..she said “shut up Griner and sit down”.
Overreach of authority and intrusion into our lives by Big Brother…the government of this city and its beureacrats need to suffer the rath of the citizens of this community who should march on the offices of the city officials that are doing this! Running these idiots out of town on a rail after they have been tarred and feathered sounds like justice to me!
Horseshit!!
