Michael Korte and wife Laura Whitney from Glendora, CA face $500 in fines and even criminal action if they don’t turn their brown lawn green again, which died because they were trying to comply with California water regulations.
Don’t you just love the government’s ability to coordinate their activities?
On Tuesday — when the couple received the letter — state regulators authorized fines up to $500 for overwatering lawns.‘Despite the water conservation efforts, we wish to remind you that limited watering is still required to keep landscaping looking healthy and green,’ the letter stated.
It included pictures of the dead lawn with a red line through it, a weedy line similarly crossed out, and finally an uncrossed green lawn with a sprinkler.
‘It is telling me I’d better get my lawn green and I have 60 days to do it,’ Laura said.Ironically, on the same day the couple received the letter the State Water Resources Control Board gave local agencies power to fine for overwatering lawns to help reduce water consumption as the state is in the third year of record low rainfall.
Should the couple wish to improve their lawn they’ll likely have to water it every day.
‘It seems like you’ll be fined if you overwater but we will be fined no matter what,’ Laura said.
California governments seem to be run by blooming idiots!
You can’t fix stupid!
sounds like the continued enslavement of the people by the government. next thing you know people will be getting jail time for their flowers not blooming.
…Or just place the letters spelling “Green” across the lawn-
Spray paint
Astro-turf
That does not look like a lawn, it looks more like dirt with some weeds…that couple is full of BS, you can use water to water you LAWN not the dirt.
SOLUTION: DIG OUT THE REST OF THE DEAD LAWN AND FILL IT IN WITH WHITE PEBBLES AND MAKE A GIANT FLOWER PLANTER YOU CAN PLANT ROWS OF DIFFERENT COLOR FLOWERS MAKING DESIGNS ETC… GOOD LUCK.
That’s nothing, my brother is sitting in jail for 5 days right now for storing ladders and firewood behind his garage in Orono Minnesota!
Probablynthe resultsmof the HOA flexing their muscles and not the statemof California.
