A Dakota fire hole requires much less firewood and burns more efficiently, producing hotter fires with less wood. This makes it a very valuable wilderness survival technique in places where firewood is scarce or requires much effort to obtain.
It also creates a stable platform that is very convenient for cooking.
The fire is concealed within a hole limiting the amount of visible light emitted and smoke is also decreased because the wood is burning hotter and more efficiently.
Yea. Let’s worry about that foot square worth of microbes we just destroyed to save our life. Go somewhere and choke yourself hippie.
More concentrated heat, works great.
Handy things to have around. Are they in North Or South.
We built these in the Boy Scouts. The main reason they are used is for high wind situations more than anything. If you have ever been to the Dakotas you would understand.
You talk too much presentation way too long, we get it.
Thanks Billy. Gr8 message even if one does not camp, but one day may be stranded.
I seen WWII troops using this in pictures…makes seense too
Does that work in January with 30 mph winds and sub zero temps?
George you can pee on it and restart them microbes your so worried about. I would bet you also voted for OBambam.
Eastman Examiner says:
“If you put your Firestarter down the other hole and under the wood, you would get a better burn.”
