A Dakota fire hole requires much less firewood and burns more efficiently, producing hotter fires with less wood. This makes it a very valuable wilderness survival technique in places where firewood is scarce or requires much effort to obtain.
It also creates a stable platform that is very convenient for cooking.
The fire is concealed within a hole limiting the amount of visible light emitted and smoke is also decreased because the wood is burning hotter and more efficiently.
COOL
Know this trick for a long time, and it work’s.
Microwave!!!
Great idea!!
Ricardo LOL I have been in the field 25 + year’s and yet have to see a microwave out there or eletricity to run it lol. Its a good survival tip lol. City people just dont get it lol
depends on wood you can find to burn, its harder for air to feed fire!
Have used one and found it to be very effective!
Jeromy, that is the purpose of the second hole. Did you not pay attention when he was explaining the way it works?
Why don’t those survival shows on television show this?
