Bruce Springsteen seems to suggest that he is embarrassed to be an American — and he’s telling the world.
The 67-year-old addressed the crowd as “embarrassed Americans” referring to President Trump in the White House in a newly-surfaced clip from his show in Melbourne Monday night.
He sang a cover of “Don’t Hang Up” mocking Trump’s phone call with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
He said, “We stand before you embarrassed Americans. This is a song from 1965 by The Orlons and we’re going to use it to send a letter back home.”
Springsteen also announced his band is a part of the resistance against the Trump administration.
Springsteen has made his displeasure with Trump known many times before. He’s just one of the dozens of celebrities who continue to preach liberalism to America and the world. Thankfully, as we saw in November, no one seems to be listening.
Australian fans cheered and laughed during the performance. But the 67-year-old continued to make references to Trump’s recent actions and executive orders during his tour down under.
The New Jersey native also introduced the next tune, American Land, as an ‘immigrant’ song.
‘We come from a land of immigrants!’, he hollered through his microphone.
The Born in the USA hitmaker brought fame to heartland rock in the 80s with his album. The 67-year-old introduced American Land, as an ‘immigrant’ song
His seventh studio album Born in the USA was released in 1984 and is one of the most commercially successful records
‘Tonight we want to add our voices to the thousands of Americans who are protesting at airports around our country the Muslim Ban and the detention of foreign nationals and refugees,’ Springsteen said.
‘America is a nation of immigrants, and we find this anti-democratic and fundamentally un-American.’
Bruce Springsteen says the New Resistance against Trump has begun—
The leader of the E Street Band has been outspoken on Trump before, and has voiced his ‘fear’ of the presidency during an interview with Marc Maron’s WTF podcast last month.
E Street guitarist Steven Van Zandt apologized to Australia in a tweet.
‘Australia is, was, and always will be one of the USA’s best friends and closest allies. Apologies for today’s temporary embarrassment,’ he said.

Bruce… I’ve been digging your music since the 70’s… long before you stuck a red ball cap in your back pocket to make the little teenie boppers go crazed…. You made MILLIONS off THIS country…go try to live, sing and talk like that in some Commie Asian country. You seem to forget, being an American is what ALLOWS you to talk like that, it’s called FREEDOM! How very sad you abuse that privilege by s**t talking this country to another country! You may not agree with the President, that’s your right… regardless, Trump is the President and as an American, it is our job to uphold him. As any business, organization or even a band can tell you…you are ONLY as good as those who uphold you!! Hmmm…. now there’s something to think about. I myself am a proud American, however…as some kind of musical spokesperson off a random Jersey boardwalk… YOU embarrassed me.
Bon Jovi does the same thing. They both have made millions they think that gives them the right to be assholes. They suck up to the Democratic party. All these old rockers are coming out running there mouths and also some that are not even citizens.
Mr has been, pretending to be an Ambassador, trashing his own country, America. But will not move, cause America, there is where the money is. Like to see him trashing Russia, China, N. Korea, Middle East, trashing their country, during his concert. Alot countries we helped during the wars and rebuild, hate America. That is why he is trashing America, cause he can get away with it, like the band Pink.
if you actually listen to the lyrics, his music is all about politics.
