Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., introduced a bill in Congress that would make it a hate crime to target a police officer. Dubbed the Blue Lives Matter Act of 2016, the bill would expand the federal hate crime statute to include law enforcement officers who are targeted for acts of violence because of their jobs.
Buck said that the law would provide federal prosecutors an extra measure of authority in cases in which police are gunned downed and ambushed in the line of duty. “It would work the same way as existing hate-crime laws do which allow federal prosecutors to bring additional charges in cases in which victims are targeted for violent crime because of their background.”

A law is needed to make killing a policeman a hate crime?? I think a law is needed to provide the death penalty to anyone who even tries to kill a cop. It’s time to start actually punishing criminals instead of locking the up for life at the taxpayers expense.
But most of those were breaking the law.
Without the police we would be in total chaos. Until we come together as a country and gain respect for ALL PEOPLE and the rule of law, we are doomed as a nation.
1. Policing began as slave patrols and their job description really hasn’t changed much.

Jerry Deaton You are entitled to your view but I feel safer knowing they are there. I also believe all lives matter.
Carol,
I’ve been both a liberal and conservative in my life. I know what both believe, think and why. I dropped both ideologies for their ignorance.
I understand why you believe the way you do and know you lack the knowledge and understanding I gained that caused me to drop those limited ideologies with their limited scopes of knowledge and understanding.
Respectfully, for Americans to act as they do toward police is no different, no doubt, to how German citizens reacted to$#%&!@*s Gestapo and I could easily see Americans thinking:
” You don’t have to worry about police if you’re not doing anything wrong, so, start obeying the law, Anne Frank!”
“We need the Gestapo to protect us from those evil criminal thugs, the Jews!”
“Stop being criminals, Jews!”
Americans have the same attitudes toward police here and the only difference is the US govt hasn’t started putting people in concentration camps AGAIN, yet!
I don’t think you know or understand the Constitution, freedom and liberty or the true, limited purpose of both govt and laws.
If I don’t wear a seatbelt, who is hurt? Who is damaged? No one! Yet it is a “crime”?!
Law today is a means of extortion, control and manipulation, not justice or your “protection.”
And their job hasn’t changed since then!
