A group of punk teens walked up to a patron at McDonald’s in D.C. and began badgering him. Chris Marquez, a decorated war veteran, was just trying to buy and meal and mind his own business, but ended up badly injured and robbed, all because he refused to rise to baiting of this mob of kids.
Marquez reports, “They asked me if I believe that black lives matter.” There is an obvious agenda in this line of questioning and Marquez recognized he could be in trouble. He stated, “I felt threatened and thought they were trying to intimidate me, so I figured I’m just going to keep to my food, eat my food, and hopefully they’ll leave me alone. And because I wasn’t respond back to them, they were calling me a racist.”
Using discretion, Marquez attempted to deescalate the group by ignoring their race baiting, but it did him no good, as he ended up with neck and head injuries and numerous bruises. More on the next page about the Marquez’ injuries.
