The U.S. has used Qatar to send money and arms to terrorist organizations in the past, who it acknowledges is a supporter of terrorism with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas. Obama has used Qatar to send missiles to the Taliban.
The Army announced Monday that it will refer Bergdahl’s case to four-star general Mark Milley, commander of Army Forces Command, who will decide whether to charge Bergdahl criminally for deserting his base in Afghanistan in 2009.
