BBC reporter Rupert Wingfield-Hayes recently spent time on the USS George Washington off Guam and came back to state that it is quite clear the US is preparing for war with China.
These preparations have actually been occuring for some time.

Our Navy should always be preparing for war, that is their job. If we were really goint to go to war, they would not invite you onto the ship. Oh, wait a minute, you are journalist. The military is always practicing for war. It’s kind of their job, maintaining readiness is what the military does, it’s what they did when I was in, what they did when my father served, and his father and so on. To win at war you must practice as though you are at war.
