Sweet Cakes by Melissa, the bakery renowned for standing for one’s religious beliefs, is refusing to pay the $135,000 fine levied by the Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian.
The gay couple who refused to take their wedding cake order elsewhere, filed suit against the Kleins, when their religious convictions about gay marriage hurt the feelings of Laurel and Rachel Bowman-Cryer. Read more on page 2.
Good. Many people stand behind you, your beliefs and convictions.
God bless you!
This such as sue happy world.. Lawyers are not so busy if they take on any case that walks in their offices.
Counter sue for slander, libel , and defamation of character, gay couple and their sponsors might well be on a high diving board above pool with no water in it
Good for them.
Also, The couple filed a complaint on an online forum which was public and it gave the business owners their personal information. Which is why they could not sue over it. If I am a business owner I have every right to serve or not serve who ever I wish, that’s just the way it is. To this day I still see business owners with big signs that read “We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.” hanging in their businesses but you never hear anyone complain about it until someone is looking for an easy payday.
When’s the last time you heard of a Muslim owned bakery getting sued, maybe because gays know not to go in there or want to think about what would happen to them if they did..
Why do they keep manipulating and mutilating words. There is no such thing as damages this is a business in the United States of America that has the right to refuse service to anyone regardless of their nature
If you read your own comment here and on other posters comments…yes. You do come across that way. I don’t think letting private business owners have choices is regression.
So you think you have a “constitutional right to discriminate”….that is fascinating.
What constitutional right do you think was infringed upon?
The owners of the bakery are still free to practice their religion. However, once they decide to open a business in a state with anti-discrimination laws…and they choose to discriminate…they are breaking the law and are punished.
I’m an idiot ? I have read both the bible and the Constitution, as well as many other books on both subjects. Can you even read ? Or do you just believe what you’re told to believe. Weak mind with no original thoughts or ideas to express, obviously prejudiced against everything, immediately resorts to name calling, I’ve got it, a Trump supporter.
I think you mean “alleged” damages.
