Sweet Cakes by Melissa, the bakery renowned for standing for one’s religious beliefs, is refusing to pay the $135,000 fine levied by the Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian.
The gay couple who refused to take their wedding cake order elsewhere, filed suit against the Kleins, when their religious convictions about gay marriage hurt the feelings of Laurel and Rachel Bowman-Cryer. Read more on page 2.
I like that sign. I don’t know anything about the discrimination laws, all i know is there are too many! It’s just my beliefs.
Chuck Jacob Pretend you know what’s in other people’s thoughts.
Nate no one is suppressing your Private, Personal religious beliefs…and no one is stopping you from having them. However, when you decide to open up shop in the public sphere and operate a for profit business that is not designated as a religious institution you have to abide by the same Anti-discrimination laws as everyone else.
The Constitution of the United States of America, does not mention anywhere that your religion or religious beliefs supercede any laws. This country was founded on the beliefs of the Free Masons. Parts of our Constitution were taken verbatim from their by laws. One standing principal is separation of church and state. Why do you people think that the Constitution gives you the right to beat someone else over the head with your religion, but when it happens to you, you scream religious persecution.
Last I remember Jesus broke bread, fed, healed, and even died for sinners. Yet Christians can’t even bake a cake for sinners because they say Jesus wouldn’t. When was it your place to judge? I thought the bible says to hate the sin but love the sinner? I thought the bible said if your enemy is hungry to feed him, if your enemy is thirsty give him something to drink. Denying services to someone because of their sin makes you a sinner also.
Again its manipulation. It was the product that the dysfunctional side of society wanted to purchase. That would be a specialty cake. They do not offer specialty cakes. Now did they try to buy a cake that they already offer for sale have a great day
Joah, you put it better than I ever could. But you have left yourself open to attack from the people who think their religion is a license to hate.
Crystal you make a painfully lame joke and then complain about my “weak” arguments and insults. Other than to point out that you were mistaken, where exactly did I insult you? My arguments are spot on and backed up by the constitution of the United States and the Supreme Court. Call it weak if you wish, but I have the actual law of the land on my side.
For some reason you seem to think that the way you wish things were is the way it actually is….thankfully for the country as a whole that is not the case. You are allowed to hold your private personal beliefs, and worship in anyway you see fit, but when you enter the public sphere your religious beliefs DO NOT give you the write to break the law and discriminate. The fact that you are suggesting that it does…or that it even should is just sad.
If you don’t think exactly like progressives they will silence you … Not only are we changing our laws your not allowed to have an opinion anymore .. The party of tolerance ???? This is a full out assault on gods. People across the world … Just like progressive slime that empowered the nazis in Germany 1930’s ….. Stand up to progressives they are everyone’s enemy… Jim go sck
Obama’s and sharptons dck …. Obama is a race baiting Jew hating enemy to the west .. Fck his laws and fck u to
Jim the worst part is that people CHOOSE their religion, so if their interpretation of their ancient texts tells them to hate “the gays” why can’t they just be adults and OWN IT….instead of saying “not my fault…my religion says it’s so….” Grow Up.
