There must be something in the water in Oregon that’s driving people race crazy. Perhaps out of jealousy for all of the attention Oregon State University has been getting for their “white privilege” awareness classes and nine day Martin Luther King Jr. celebration, an Oregon community college has dedicated an entire month to shaming white people.
That’s right, Portland Community College has designated April as “Whiteness History Month,” a month in which they will explore how the “construct of whiteness” ruined the world and created the racism that “thrives” in America today.
The college-wide project is said to be an effort to change campus climate by challenging race narratives through an exploration of the social constructs of “whiteness”. According to them “whiteness and racism is everywhere”. Apparently it’s an ideology based on beliefs, values, behaviors, habits and attitudes that result in the unequal distribution of power and privilege based on skin color.
Their proof for the existence of white privilege is found in 17th century ideology. Once again, modern people are claiming offense for something they weren’t around to be offended by, and they’re blaming white people for an act that they weren’t alive to commit.

Come get some
And just in case you forgot Native Americans enslaved other tribe members and whites were also slaves in this country as well. They used the term indentured servant for the whites, but a slave is a slave. Those who talk about race are the racist. There are good and bad in all races, so grow up and move on.
Flip Dorthy so you think that the South was the only place that had slaves? Mr Lincoln had slaves. The Civil War was over states rights and the balance of power between free states and slave states. An agrarian society versus an industrial society. The emancipation proclamation was given two years after the war started because Lincoln needed to boost Northern moral as to this point they had been beaten at every major battle and we’re getting ready to stop fighting and he used slavery to keep them in the war. I have three college degrees and I am a student of history and while your public education textbook tells you it was about slavery others will tell you what I just did. As a side note, slavery was a dying institution as advancements in farming equipment were being made at the time. If the slaves were treated so bad then Once they were free, why did most chose to stay? Not agreeing that one man should own another, just pointing out that Harriet Beecher Stowe didn’t know what she was talking about since she had never been South of the Mason Dixon Line.
Misguided and idiotic!!
