Floods, earthquakes, plagues, wars, droughts. Many biblical scholars see an increase in these disasters as signs pointing to the end of the age. And when these events occur in greater frequency and severity, like a woman experiencing birth pangs, the end grows even nearer. Add to that the belief that if these events happen in Israel, then the prophetic clocks gets moved just that much closer to midnight.
So when the water level in Lake Kinneret, or the Sea of Galilee, dropped so low that Kinneret Island appeared, folks in that area got worried about having enough water, while others saw this as just one more sign that we don’t have much time left on this planet.
It’s not just Christians whose beliefs include an apocalyptic end-times scenario. The Jewish Talmud also makes reference to the times of the end including a reference to the coming of the Jewish Messiah. Even more ominously, Kinneret Island is part of this prophecy.
So what may seem to be just one more crisis in the Middle East, may portend something far greater.
Hi Jake, Your comments mentioned quoting primarily from the more secular “Jewish News” source. So that was the approach I worked to implement while still giving those looking for an apocalyptic interpretation something to chew on. So I thought I’d try this on for size and see if it fits. Thanks for the support! (Will be interesting to see how the comments break down on this one.)
Hi Jake, I really wasn’t sure how far to push the “prophetic” aspect to this story. I have no problems writing on biblical prophecy, and have a pretty good idea for what buttons to push to attract the attention of those interested in end-times. I’ve re-written this one as you requested, only this time focusing on “end of the world” issues as opposed to political problems stemming from a lack of water. I truly appreciate your guidance as I settle in to the sort of work and focus that will be of benefit to your site and its readers.
The other question that comes up regards photos used. Bill emphasized the importance of avoiding anything by AP or Getty. However, there are not always images in the library that fit the story. I wish to be very careful not to engage in any copyright infringement, so any guidance you wish to offer would be appreciated.
Further, the next time you do a training session for new writers, I’d be happy to “sit in” and listen to see if I might pick up some additional information.
Again, I sincerely wish to be very positive and quality member of your team, and I appreciate very much the opportunity to write for Truth and Action!
According to the ‘Global Warming’ Sect, the Sea Level is supposed to be rising, thus making it impossible for New Islands to appear (Unless by Volcanic Action). Seems to me that the Sea Level is shrinking for this to happen.
Read the Bible
Global warming is suppost to flood the world, not lower sea and water levels ! Ha ha
I guess the Chinese must be in the neighborhood.

What quote would you refer to ??
Look up Isaiah 19:5 it’s the Talmudic prophecy. That’s what I found.
