Often in libertarian mediums of discussion, the prison industrial complex and its implications on future generations is talked about. While it is true that the war on drugs greatly contributes to the mass incarceration here in the states, placing blame solely on poor drug policy isn’t helping the discussion that much.
In reality, there isn’t one clear cut reason as to why the criminal justice system is the way it is today. It’s a combination of poor policy decisions made over the course of the last half of the 20th century. One of the policies contributing to the amount of Americans behind bars is our embarrassingly long prison sentences.

Personally…I think the Justice Department is too lenient with those that break the law. They need to send a harsh message with their sentencing because killers think they can plea “insanity” and get off!
We have the most prision and the most criminals. Kill more on death row and maybe people will think twice and we wont have such a big problem with criminals
Just because it works for you don’t mean it works for others…lets take away you home money and family put you on the streets and see how your perspective on justice changes from Justice for all”to justice as in just us”
We need swift capital punishment. And I mean swift. Especially for any prisoner that kills another prisoner in jail. JUST TAKE THEM DIRECTLY TO THE NOOSE.
Most of the world kills people and not put them in prison for murder or rape of children.
Well apparently the criminals like our jails as most of them are repeat offenders.
It’s embarr$#%&!@*ing that we don’t have enough room for all the felons in the U.S. This post is a joke.
Not long enough
It depends on the crime as to how long a person serves, but it also depends on the judge doing the sentencing. However, if a jury finds a person guilty of murder, the sentence should be death regardless.
So what. You break the law in America that’s what you get!!! DON’T BREAK OUR LAWS YOU IDIOTS!!!
