Alabama Police Paralyze Grandfather For Not Speaking English, Walking Around Neighborhood

The Indian government has issued a statement strongly condemning the treatment of one of their citizens by U.S. law enforcement

“We take the incident involving an Indian national very seriously. We want to make it abundantly clear that we are extremely worried about what has happened to Mr. Sureshbhai Patel, an Indian national,” states Syed Akbaruddin, India’s external affairs ministry spokesman. “We are extremely disturbed; this is a matter of concern for us; and India and the US ‒ as open, pluralist societies ‒ need to address these issues and find ways in a mature manner so that these are aberrations, and are not the norm.”

The incident is now under investigation by the FBI.

“What’s going on sir?”

“You what?”

“India.”

“Where you heading?”

“Where?”

“I can’t understand you, sir.”

“Where’s your address?”

“Do you have any ID?”

“India?”

“Do you live here.”

“Sir, sir, come here.”

“Do not jerk away from me again, or I will put you on the ground. Do you understand?”

And then the cops paralyzed him.

You can clearly see that the officer, Eric Parker, grabs Mr Patel’s arm, twists it behind his back and sweeps out his feet from underneath him, leaving him no way of breaking his fall.

As he lays on the ground, presumably terrified and unable to move, the officers cuff him and demand that he stands up.

“You’re alright, stand up.” one cops is heard saying. “You can walk,” another tells the now disabled man. The cops then discuss the matter, noting

“He don’t speak a lick of English.”

“I tried to pat him down but he tried to walk away from me.”

“I don’t know what his problem is but he won’t listen.”

“He was trying to walk away.”

When the Patel family took the story to the media this week, the Madison Police Department claimed that Mr Patel was snooping around the neighborhood, looking in people’s windows and garages. Of course, that was pure horse shit.

Since the story went viral, Madison PD has apologized to the family and arrested officer Parker, who has also been fired. He now faces charges of third-degree assault, and has been released on a $1,000 bond.

“On Monday they were trying to blame Mr. Patel.” said the family attorney Hank Sherrod. “On Monday they were minimizing this. I’m glad they apparently are starting to do the right thing. But why weren’t they doing this on Monday? With those videos.” he added.

As the local news report states, the FBI is also conducting an inquiry as to whether there were any federal violations in this case.

You think?

This is the shameful state of police brutality in the US now. This man and his family came to the country legally to better their lives and live their dreams. They have had it all torn away from them forever, and been left literally crippled and emotionally destitute.
