AG Sessions Refuses to Prosecute Hillary, Comey or Mueller

There is another disturbing element to this as well.  In the interim of all these questions regarding his tenacity (or severe lack thereof) of tackling the big investigations, he has been speaking out vigorously and aggressively on the extension of the Bush-era bill that gives the FBI, CIA and the NSA carte-blanche access to wiretapping, recording and surveilling of private citizens without a warrant, not only kicking the can down the road, but without a sunset option that would, in essence, make it permanent!

US Attorney General Jeff Sessions is pushing to permanently renew the controversial section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) following Tuesday’s terrorist attack that killed eight people in Manhattan.

Speaking to law enforcement officials and attorneys at the Southern District US Attorney’s office in lower Manhattan on Thursday, Sessions outlined a three-pronged security strategy, including President Donald Trump’s embattled travel ban, securing government access to electronic devices, and surveillance of non US citizens overseas, calling it “not a political matter, but a safety matter.”

A key component of this strategy, Section 702 originated as part of a broad surveillance program from the George W. Bush-era that allowed the FBI, CIA and NSA to spy on people in the US and abroad without a warrant. Congress passed Section 702 following the 2005 revelation that the government had been spying on the communications of US citizens’ internet communications and phone calls with foreigners.

With Section 702 set to expire in just 59 days, Sessions called on Congress to pass its renewal “before Christmas” and without sunset provisions, making it permanent.

Sessions is using the latest terror attack in New York City where eight people died as a pretense for the need for this law to be extended and made permanent.  His rationale is simple.  If we had been able to follow his communications, non-encrypted, we would have known what he had planned.

The problem here is that he is now pushing this alongside the proposed Trump travel ban, saying that hand-in-hand enforcements of the two will serve to make our country more secure.

QUESTION:  Does anyone believe that the FBI, CIA and the NSA can be trusted with this power and not abuse it?

The president himself was wiretapped by the FBI (which was denied, even though it happened).  If they went so far as to do the bidding of Obama against an incoming president, what would stop them from doing the bidding of the Establishment again against the people of the US?

This spanks of another attempt to whittle away the basic privacy rights of Americans in order to ensure that we do not get the wrong idea about “who’s really in charge in this country.”  The US government can’t be trusted to do the right thing…ever.  They have already demonstrated in grand ways that they cannot be trusted with our elections.  They cannot be trusted with enforcement of our immigration laws.  They can’t be trusted with our tax money.  And they can’t be trusted with classified documents or unsecured national security email systems!

The travel ban, IF PROPERLY ENFORCED, will do wonders for the problem of terrorism.  But therein lies the rub.  Democrats and soft, pliable, lapdog RINO Establishmentariat Swamp dwellers don’t want the travel ban to work or be viewed as successful.  That would be a victory for Trump…and that is anathema to what the Swamp believes.
