A standing ovation rang through walls of the Great Faith Ministries Church in Detroit, this past Saturday. Trump, who spoke for fourteen minutes to a crowd of mostly black congregants stirred their hearts and minds. He ended the speech with a Bible verse:
I’d like to conclude with a passage from First John, Chapter 4: You know it! You see most groups I speak to don’t know that. But we know. If you want we can say it together. “No one has ever seen God but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
Trump’s words of encouragement rang true for many as they reflected on the idea that healing the nation can begin with the black churches and church goers.
He spoke of always supporting the church and defending the right to worship, hoping that his being there would help their voices “reach a new audience” and that “these audiences desperately need your spirit and your thought.”
The success of his visit was encouraging for the black community as well as the Trump campaign.
