In a discussion caught on video by a student, University of California, Irvine Professor Richard Symanski chose to use his introductory biology class as a venue for airing his anti-gun views.
Knowing that plenty of freshmen would be present in the room, he tried to frame it as merely something they could get involved with during their time at the university, encouraging them to “jump on this gun issue” and expressing shock that anybody could possibly disagree with him and other anti-gun liberals.
Symanski’s remarks come on the heels of the San Bernardino shooting, with him laying blame for tragedies like it at the feet of the NRA and implicitly calling for a nation-wide gun confiscation scheme like the one disastrously implemented in Australia.
