This article is clearly written by a white person who has spent absolutely no time considering, much less studying, what structural racism means and how it impacts nonwhite persons of color in our country. White privilege is alive and well, notwithstanding the U. S. having had a President of Color for 8 years. Please refrain from jumping on the bandwagon of continued hate speech and begin the hard process of taking a look at what structural racism is; how it impacts all of us, white and nonwhite alike; and how we can work toward being a more unified country upholding the principle that “All men (and women) are created equal.” As a white person, I have learned from my friends of Color what it is like to walk in their shoes, with daily slights from white people simply because the color of their skin differs from the white norm. As a white person, I am confronting the many ways, conscious and unconscious, in which I participate in perpetuating white supremacy. It is our task to do the same and to commit toward a country where people are treated with respect regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, country of origin, or sexual orientation and identity. I reject this article as blatantly racist. I am disturbed by the comments of other readers which perpetuate the same attitude. Anyone who is Christian is called upon to chip away at the underpinnings of racism, which is alive and well, unfortunately, in our country.
