European Union Upset President Trump Acted on Coronavirus Without Their Permission

Last time we checked, the United States was not part of the European Union. Yet, the leaders of the EU have responded with indignation to our President’s decision to “unilaterally” impose a sweeping ban on travel from European countries to the United States as part of efforts to stop the rapid spread of the coronavirus.

President Trump announced Wednesday night in a rare primetime address to the nation that he was taking the strong measure to stem the spread of the virus that has infected more than 118,00 people and killed over 4,300 worldwide. While the ban, which begins on Friday, doesn’t apply to legal U.S. permanent residents or the immediate family members of U.S. citizens, it does apply to residents or citizens of 26 countries across Europe.

“We will be suspending all travel from Europe to the United States for the next 30 days,” Trump said, blasting coronavirus as “a foreign virus.”
