Is anyone else missing the 80s when interest rates were much, much higher and it was actually worthwhile to put money in a bank? It’s depressing thinking back and remembering how you could get so much more with a lot less than today.
In 1987, I was an E-4 in the Navy…I made more money that year than I have made so far this year. I was renting an apartment in San Diego,,,paid my utility bills on time and had a decent savings. I am almost broke now, unemployed and have no idea how I will pay my utility bills, natural gas has been shut off and when I do work,,,,I barely make it week to week…and I do not drink,party,gamble or waste a single dollar…my rent now is less than when I lived in San Diego….go figure…
