Sad! So why is so much money sent to other countries instead of tearing these slums down and putting in acceptable low income housing that is energy efficient and safe?

These families qualify for food stamps, utility assistance, school lunches, housing assistance, cell phones, day care, free medical and dental and an education. Not to mention what churches and charities provide.
First, there are parents out there struggling and trying. These people need all the help we can give them. We need to help the people who are willing to help themselves.
What is sad, is that these kids are the ones going to school hungry, if they go to school. They are the ones with “stay at home parents” yet are neglected and struggling in school. They also have a greater chance of having involvement with CPS. 80% of CPS cases involve drugs.
With the list of benefits, it’s clear to see that “free stuff” is not all they need. Education will help but they have to go to school first. Discipline, accountability and responsibility are needed. Without these, we will not see change. I believe drug testing, therapy, parenting classes, life skills classes and plans set forth to get them off benefits should be required. If they are not working, volunteer work should be required. This will also give them work experience. Rather than trying to get people off assistance, the govt wants quotas met! We have a govt that is enabling people and setting them up for failure.
I feel for these kids because most are not being taught responsibility, accountability and discipline. They are being taught what their parents have been taught.
More free stuff is not the answer. If you read about the Georgia Debtors, you will learn that the govt GAVE them everything they needed to be successful. This has gone down as one of the biggest govt failures in history.
Illegals are Obama’s concern.
