When Congress returns to Washington tomorrow after its more-than-month long vacation, it will be greeted by President Donald Trump’s long-awaited announcement on the fate of the controversial DACA (Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals) program for illegal immigrants.
President Barack Obama created DACA through executive order on June 15, 2012, to provide young immigrants who entered the country illegally with their parents with a de facto amnesty program.
Through DACA, approximately 850,000 individuals received special permits that allow them to remain in the United States, to pursue their education and/or work.
At the time, many Republicans complained the action was unconstitutional and that only Congress could provide such a change to immigration law.
While campaigning for president in 2016, Donald Trump promised to end the DACA program and deport those who are in the United States illegally. Tomorrow’s anticipated announcement is expected to end the program, but provide for a six-month implementation delay to allow Congress to consider a legislative remedy to the problem.
On the next page, find out which Republicans are balking at the end of the program and which are likely to support legislation to allow it to continue.
Carolyn Reynolds, didn’t they say the same thing about Hillary? People in SC are fed up like I have never seen them. We can sure do our part.
It was a order which goes against the Constitution. So Trump reverses it and then gives Congress and Senate to put something on his desk in Six months. So why would you oppose something that you should of fixed years ago.
Hey you GOP idiots, DACA was unconstitutional and needs to be stopped. Get some balls and stand with Mr. Trump and the American people to get these illegals out of our country. Their parents never thought nor cared about what they have been doing to our country and people nor how they have lengthen the time for legal immigrants to sponsor family members to come to the U.S. talking about separating other peoples family. Most of us legal immigrants feel like they have slapped us in the face and will not ever support their illegal ways and if Congress doesn’t do the right thing, you will allow illegals to keep coming in and destroying our coubtry and hurting our people. They are not supposed to get welfare, food stamps or Medicaid when our own poor people can’t even get them! Wake up and stop being corrupt!
You Rino’s in both houses have been sitting on a bill since july 22 collecting dust that would extend the DACA program. You all knew September 5 Trump would have to make a decision about DACA or 10 states where going to sue.
The AG already said it was unconstitutional and would lose the lawsuit and as you know the President cant make law, you do, he upholds it.
You Rino’s are trying to make the President look bad and call him a racist, then you will all go back and pass the bill thats been collecting dust this whole time, just so you can call the President a racist and make yourself look good.
Anyone who does this should be voted out of office.
Just remember those who oppose our President….WE THE PEOPLE are keeping notes….we are taking names…..YOU may not have a job if you continue to obstruct OUR President! WE voted him in and WE can vote YOU out!
What a shame that we have a bunch of thugs for supposedly Congressman.they are dishonest when they talk.
the 2018 elections cannot come quickly enough. At least those up for re-election are going down the road.
They have been politically bought
DONT YHEY REMEMBER WHO ELECTED THER PRESIDENT? THEY WANT HIS AGENDA , NOT OBSTRUCTIVENESS FROM HIS OWN PARTY.
