13 Jaw-Dropping Clinton Scandals

2) Covering For a Predator

After news of the Monica Lewinsky affair caught public attention in 1998, Hillary Clinton responded to the allegations that  her husband had engaged in extra-marital sexual relationships over at least a 20-year period, saying, “Certainly, I believe they’re false. Absolutely.”

She also addressed other accusations by Kathleen Willey, Gennifer Flowers and Dolly Kyle Browning. Hillary responded to Matt Lauer’s interview questions on the topic, saying, “Bill and I have been accused of everything, including murder, by some of the very same people who are behind these allegations.” She suggested this was the effect of a “vast right-wing conspiracy. …So from my perspective, this is part of a continuing political campaign against my husband.”

But when later questioned under oath, Bill Clinton finally admitted to his affair with Flowers and with Lewinsky. Kathleen Willey explained in her 2007 book, “Target: Caught in the Crosshairs of Bill and Hillary Clinton,” that Hillary’s behavior and public statements demonstrated her main goal was always to ensure that Bill Clinton’s proclivities did not put their political careers at risk.

Willey’s book also exposed Hillary’s practice of employing private investigators in Arkansas to enable her to anticipate and combat repercussions from Bill Clinton’s behavior. When Bill was governor, Hillary sent out  investigators called the “Truth Squad” to persuade her husband’s lovers from publicly exposing their affairs.

It is clear that Hillary’s public denials and claims of support for Bill were dishonest attempts to deflect attention that might cost them political capital. Her intimidation methods and vindictive nature showed up again when the duo were near the end of their White House term.

Some of you will remember reports of the despicable incidents on the next slide:
